Picnic lunch

Today Nora and I had a picnic lunch. It went something like this:

Lather Nora in sunscreen; put her in the stroller.
Place big, floppy hat on Nora.
Nora takes off big, floppy hat and chews on it.
Head out of the apartment in search of off-the-beaten-path green space.
Admit there is no off-the-beaten-path green space around our apartment.
Settle for a stretch of lawn by a playground in the center of a townhouse "city".
Place hat on Nora's head.
Push Nora in infant swing for a few minutes; lather more sunscreen on her.
Set out picnic blanket; cut up a mango.
Give Nora pieces of mango (seemingly her favorite fruit right now).
Nora grunts in approval; pulls hat off head.
Nora grabs handful of grass, tastes it, spits it out.
Put hat on Nora.
Lean back on blanket, enjoying the rays.
Nora climbs on mom, pushes off, stands independently (her new trick).
Neighbor and dog walk by.
Nora stares wide-eyed.
Neighbor and dog walk a couple blocks away.
Nora yells at dog (now that he is safe distance away).
Nora crawls off blanket; yells at grass.
Put Nora back on blanket; lay down for another attempt to soak up the sun.
Nora climbs up again; places face inches from mine; stands up and puts hands in air ("mom, look how big I am.")
Finish lunch; pack up; head home.

Life's good.
