You're invited

Dear Friend,

I would like to invite you to judge at the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association's (NCFCA's) 10th Annual National Speech and Debate Championship. From June 5-9, a record number of home school high school students from across the nation will gather at Patrick Henry College in Purcellville, VA, to compete in twelve different categories of speech and debate.

NCFCA's mission is to encourage America's future Christian leaders to learn to speak persuasively and articulately to any audience. Thus, we welcome judges with no judging experience. You will only be asked to give your perspective; no specialized knowledge is necessary.

We must fill more than 1,500 judging slots for this tournament. Please consider judging a block of two rounds (4 hours) for the efficiency of our time and yours. We ask that you arrive 45 minutes prior to the start of the first round to allow time for a brief judge's orientation session. We have need for the most judges on Tuesday and Wednesday should your schedule permit.

To sign up to judge, click here. Each round is marked as either debate or speech. You will find more details about each event in our "Event Descriptions" link. We also have short judging manuals available online if you would like to learn more about judging a particular event.

Thank you for considering serving home schooled students in this way! Community volunteers from past competitions tell us what a rewarding, insightful and fun experience it is to judge at these events.

If you have any questions, you may contact me at gmail.com. Also, if you have suggestions for other community judges, please send me a list or forward this email directly on to your friends.

Sincerely,

Sarah Shipp
NCFCA Judge Coordinator

Wow - that brings back memories! I judged several rounds one year and it was great fun. It also made me think of doing moot court with the campers that first year - boy, those were crazy days!

Hope you get all the judges you need - Colorado is just a little too far away to help! :-)
